André d’Orsonnens Wins the MÉRITIC Honoris Causa Award
Druide informatique is pleased to announce that its Chairman of the Board and CEO, André d’Orsonnens, won yesterday’s annual MÉRITIC Honoris Causa award from Réseau Action TI. The award recognizes exceptional people in the information technology sector who, throughout their careers, have distinguished themselves in terms of both character and know-how. As such, he is now a member of the Cercle des Grands Bâtisseurs québécois des TI.
After graduating from the University of Montreal’s law school, André d’Orsonnens was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1984. An energetic attorney with an undeniable gift for charisma, he left a major law firm to focus on Druide informatique, computational linguistics company which he cofounded and where he serves as chairman of the board and CEO. In this role, he has led Antidote’s marketing operations since 1996, overseeing its emergence as a renowned language assistance software suite celebrated by publications across the French-speaking world.
Mr. d’Orsonnens has long been a committed member of Alliance numérique, Quebec’s network for the digital interactive content industry. As well as contributing to the work of numerous committees, he joined the network’s board of directors in 2005, serving as chairman from 2008 to 2011.
Since 2013, Mr. d’Orsonnens has served as chairman of the board at SAJE, Canada’s largest support centre for entrepreneurs. He is also on the board of the Paul Gérin-Lajoie Foundation, which Druide supports through its annual golf classic, the eighth edition of which will be held on June 7.
“I share this prestigious distinction with all my fellow Druides, starting with my associates Éric Brunelle and Bertrand Pelletier,” said the delighted winner. “Because before any of my voluntary work, it undeniably results from the success of our software Antidote, which will celebrate its 20-year anniversary this autumn.”
Representing Druide, André d’Orsonnens won the OCTAS for commercial success thanks for Antidote. The Office québécois de la langue française awarded him a merit in recognition of Druide’s contribution to the promotion of French internationally. He also received the Montreal Bar Association’s Merit award and was a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, as well as being voted CEO of the year by his peers at the Association québécoise des technologies.
Druide informatique produces and markets Antidote, the most complete writing assistance software suite available for English and French, as well as Typing Pal, the renowned typing tutorial application. Druide is also the creator of WebElixir, a quality assurance service for websites, while its subsidiary, Éditions Druide, specializes in the publication of French-language literature and reference works.
