Andréane Le May took home the Grand Prix Antidote de l’éloquence at the Délie ta langue! public speaking competition finals, which took place on March 30 at the auditorium of the Grande Bibliothèque (BAnQ). Sponsored by Druide informatique, the award includes a $5,000 scholarship in recognition of this promising young scholar’s exceptional public speaking skills.

Organized by Université de Montréal, the Délie ta langue! contest aims to promote the positive, original and dynamic ways people use the French language. The initiative helps participants hone their public speaking skills. Undergraduate students from 15 universities in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick were eligible to participate.

The finalists were asked to choose an evocative expression in French and explore its meaning in relation to a societal challenge. Le May, a Université de Sherbooke music student, chose the expression accorder ses violons to tackle polarization and emphasize the importance of listening to each other so that we can harmonize. She stood out with her relevant subject matter, strong imagery full of sharp notes (the highs and the lows), compelling storytelling, humour and warmth.

In addition to bestowing the Grand Prix Antidote de l’éloquence, Druide presented each finalist with an Antidote+ package, offering access to all three applications in its renowned writing assistance software line: Antidote 12, Antidote Web and Antidote Mobile.

Druide informatique has been specializing in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics since 1993. The company produces and markets Antidote, the most comprehensive writing assistance software available for English and French, as well as Typing Pal, the renowned typing tutorial application. In addition to its software, Druide also publishes French-language literature and reference works through its subsidiary, Éditions Druide.
