Druide informatique is pleased to announce that a panel set up by Vélo Québec has recognized all the steps that Druide has taken to promote cycling, awarding it the silver level VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE certification.
Druide was among the very first organizations to earn VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE certification in 2016. This was renewed in 2019 after Druide implemented the panel’s detailed recommendations. After an interruption brought on by the pandemic and two years of fully remote work, activities resumed in full force with the return of in-person working in 2022.
The team at Druide has access to a secure bicycle storage room and showers to freshen up after their morning sprint. A cycling committee encourages employees to cycle to work by participating in the Mois du vélo and by providing information and incentives. Employees can enjoy the pleasures of cycling together with organized excursions. They are also encouraged to participate in team cycling events, with fifteen of them set to proudly sport the colours of Druide on May 26th in Lanaudière for the Défi métropolitain.
“Now the recipient of its third VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE certification, Druide informatique continues to stand out as an employer thanks to its bicycle-friendly culture and the adoption of sustainable mobility in its values,” said Jean-François Rheault, CEO of Vélo Québec. “After eight years of commitment to the program, the company still distinguishes itself with the quality of its onsite facilities and its continued efforts to promote cycling among team members.”
“We sincerely believe in the bicycle as a means of getting around the city,” says Éric Brunelle, President of Druide and principal architect of Antidote, who is an avid cyclist himself. “It’s good exercise for our employees, much better for the environment and gives our city a more welcoming, more human atmosphere. Better facilities for bikes can even help us to attract and retain staff. So it’s an excellent investment for the whole community.”
Mouvement VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE
Launched by Vélo Québec in 2015, the VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement is inspired by the Bicycle Friendly America program, created in 1980 by The League of American Bicyclists, which has been implemented by Share the Road Cycling Coalition in Ontario since 2010. The VÉLOSYMPATHIQUE movement received financial assistance from the Quebec government as part of the Action-Climat Québec program, in line with the objectives of the government’s Plan pour une économie verte 2030.
