Antidote Lands in France

September 30, 1997 Press releases

Under the chairmanship of the honourable Lucien Bouchard, Premier of Quebec, Druide is pleased to announce the launch of Antidote in France. The renowned writing assistance software is now available from the retailer Fnac across its 47 locations in France and Belgium at the suggested retail price of 690 FF, taxes included.

Today, Druide informatique inc. and Infotrade S.A. signed a representation agreement, marking Antidote’s entry into the French market. Thanks to this partnership, the French public now has access to the software, which has been enthusiastically received by the local trade press and described as a “true masterstroke” and “boost [for the industry]”.

Antidote was designed to be to writing what productivity suites like MS Office are to office automation. For the first time, the four main tools for writing in French are combined in the same software: an advanced grammar checker, a rich dictionary with 100,000 words and 350,000 definitions, an interactive grammar and an exhaustive verb conjugator. These tools easily and seamlessly integrate with word processing software, setting Antidote apart.

Antidote works on macOS, Windows 3 and Windows 95, and it is compatible with Word 6, Word 7, Word 97, WordPerfect 6, ClarisWorks 4 and NisusWriter 5. Antidote also integrates with the email software Eudora Pro.

Founded in 1993, Druide informatique specializes in computational linguistics and has been marketing Antidote since 1996. In 1997, the software received a Mérite du français award from the Office de la langue française du Québec and was named an OCTAS finalist by the Fédération de l’informatique du Québec.
