Typing Pal’s New Features for 2022 – School Edition
Druide informatique is pleased to announce the rollout of a new version of Typing Pal – School Edition, its web-based typing tutorial application for educational institutions. As an ongoing computer code redesign brings significant developments, teachers and students can benefit from several new features: educational practice texts, limited edition badges and the ability to control access to Move On activities.
The collections of practice texts have additional sections about the English or French language, depending on the school’s subscription. These texts, inspired by the language guides in the writing assistance software Antidote, allow students to strengthen their typing skills while reviewing their knowledge of language in a fun way.
A new category has been added to the myriad of badges to be collected: limited edition badges. These can only be unlocked within a specific timeframe corresponding to a particular event. Typing Pal’s first limited edition badge, Back to School 2022, is available starting today, and can only be unlocked until September 15. The appearance—and disappearance—of these challenges is designed to sustain students’ interest all year long.
Furthermore, it is now possible to lock practice texts and improvement activities. Since game locking was already in place, you can now independently manage access to each type of activity in the Move On tab. This way, students’ attention can be focused on the type of activity chosen by the teacher.
After the replacement of the server systems last year, a complete redesign of Typing Pal’s computer code was undertaken. These efforts are already bearing fruit, even if the impacts are sometimes undetectable by the user. For example, new security measures have been put in place to protect users’ personal information. Also, the algorithm that generates content for the improvement activities and the Monkeys in Jeopardy game was strengthened to better prevent the accidental spelling of inappropriate words in an educational context. Over 20 updates were rolled out without a single service interruption.
Educational institutions with Typing Pal subscriptions can enjoy these new features as of today, since they have just been rolled out globally. Many of these features have also been added to Typing Pal’s Personal and Home Editions.
