Loanah Jouvin took home the Antidote Grand Prize for Eloquence at the Délie ta langue! eloquence contest finals held Monday in the auditorium of the Grande Bibliothèque (BAnQ). Sponsored by Druide informatique, the award includes a $5,000 bursary in recognition of this promising young scholar’s exceptional public speaking skills.
Organized by Université de Montréal, the Délie ta langue! contest aims to promote the positive, original and dynamic ways people use the French language. The initiative helps participants hone their public speaking skills. Students from 13 universities in Quebec, Ontario and—for the first time—New Brunswick were eligible to participate.
The finalists were asked to choose an evocative expression in French and explore its meaning in relation to a societal challenge. The HEC Montréal student of Operations and Supply Chain Management Loanah Jouvin chose to examine the root causes of homelessness through the lens of the expression gagner sa vie. Her performance stood out for its originality, its strong message, its apt references, the richness of language used and the emotions it elicited.
In addition to bestowing the Antidote Grand Prize for Eloquence, Druide presented each finalist with an Antidote+ package, offering access to all three applications in its popular writing assistance software line: Antidote 11, Antidote Web and Antidote Mobile.
Druide informatique has been specializing in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics since 1993. The company produces and markets Antidote, the most comprehensive writing assistance software available for English and French, as well as Typing Pal, the renowned typing tutorial application.
